Gestured figures in watercolor

An exercise in painting figures at a distance in watercolor

In this video I aim to show how one could use simple brushstrokes in watercolor as a foundation to render human figures. I start with lines and dots, emphasizing the importance of considering proportions, and then eventually how one could develop these strokes further to add more detail in their depiction of the figure. Often I use these techniques when I’m placing figures in a larger scene, a city street for example.
