Simplifying with water-soluble markers

A quick and direct method for sketching on location

In this short video I show how to use water-soluble markers like Tombow to quickly sketch out and render a street scene. The main approach I use in this method is to spot and mass in the shadow shapes within the composition. By isolating the shadows, the mid-tones and lights emerge more clearly. From there one can add details here and there as they choose.
