Happy New Year's Notes
Best wishes for the coming year, many thanks and a pause to the newsletter
First off, happy New Year and all my best wishes for a healthy, creative, prosperous and productive 2026.
With the New Year wishes I want to express my deep thanks for being a reader of the Jun-Pierre Art Notes Substack newsletter which I have been posting for more than three years now.
Starting a new year can generate lots of reflection and considerations for change. The brief transition from one year to the next can give us that moment to think about how we are best able to spend our time.
I realized that with the amount of teaching I’m doing along with other projects, it was becoming more difficult to devote the proper amount of time and attention that this newsletter warrants.
Starting this month for the indefinite future, I will be posting less.
Because of this, I am going to pause receiving payments for this newsletter.
I will still post in case there is upcoming news, or even if there’s some interesting exhibition I’ve seen or article I’ve read I may write something about it. But it will all be just as part of the free newsletter.
Regarding the monthly Art Group meetings which were open to the paid subscribers of this community, I will still be hosting those meetings, though it may not be every month (however it will be most months).
I will also be continuing the one-to-one meetings for the founding members who still wish to participate in them, every other month.
My aim is to get my routine here in order and catch a breath where I can. That way when I’m ready to relaunch the newsletter in a more regular fashion, I’ll have plenty of ideas stored up.
Once again, I want to thank you readers so very much for continuing to subscribe, read, share and even pay for this semi-regular publication of musings, tutorials, notes and scribbles. I wouldn’t do it were it not for all of your support, comments, thoughts and encouragement. Thank you.
Finally, I started the year a bit on my back foot as I caught a bug at the tail end of the year. I’m finally feeling more myself and could finish a family portrait sketch for the New Year. Some years I can spend more time on it than others, and this one turned out to be less, but I think it captures the energy of the two girls as they’re growing quicker than ever.
The four of us, Dora, Yvonne, Ioanna and myself wish you and your family a very happy happy and healthy New Year.

What a beautiful heartfelt family portrait! I totally understand and respect your need to catch your breath. I have really enjoyed reading your letters and will now find the time to go back and re-read, paint along, or better read past ones. There is so much content already there!
Wow! That family portrait is ON POINT! Wow, it's perfect, jun. Glad you've made the decision to ease into 2026 without too much on your plate. You've been juggling many projects and giving more classes. You always give 110% and so less is more....Good on you. Thanks for generously sharing your insights and expertise, brother!
